Mix shortening, sugar and eggs. Add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Chill. Roll into walnut-sized balls and roll through sugar/cinnamon mixture. Bake 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet at 400° - until golden, but soft - approx 8-10 minutes.
