Kentucky Bourbon Sauce

Ingredients and Directions

In 3 quart saucepan over medium heat, heat 1 teaspoon vegetable oil; add 2/3 cup chopped onion, cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until softened. Stir in one 10-ounce jar apple jelly (preferably reduced-sugar), one 8-ounce can no-salt-added tomato sauce, 1/3 cup bourbon or orange juice, 1/4 cup cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until sauce has thickened and flavors are blended. Makes about 1 2/3 cups.
